Astig Futsal edges Spencer United

(Saipan Tribune) Astig Futsal closed out the first round of the SSS U12 Co-ed Christmas Futsal Tournament with a 2-1 win over Spencer United last Saturday at the TSL Sports Complex.

With the victory, the Jershwin Angeles-coached Astig Futsal improved its record to 2-0-1 (win-draw-loss) and moved up to second place behind the unbeaten Fake Madrid (2-1-0), which drew San Antonio Footlose (1-1-1) in the other match last weekend. Spencer United is at the bottom of the team standings with its 0-0-3 card.

Louie Calayag and David Mafnas scored one goal apiece in Astig Futsal’s second victory, bringing the team’s goal scored total after three games to 12. Joining Mafnas and Calayag on the squad are Emmanuel Aniana, De Jana Muna, Diana Maniacop, Jerlyn Castillo, Christopher Aninzo, Jether Yobech, and Angel Sally.

Cody Leon drilled the lone goal for Spencer United, which also has Spencer Dickinson, Eunsyu Hahn, Hana Mafnas, Kelsey Conlon, Carla Ballesteros, Emalyn Aniana, and Marcilyn Welsen as members.

Leon was the only Spencer United player to score in the first of the double-round tournament and their team gave up 19 goals in three games.

Fake Madrid logged the most goals in the first round with its 13. It also kept the No. 1 spot despite the draw against San Antonio Footloose, as Fake Madrid earned 7 points against Astig Futsal’s 6 in the first round.

San Antonio collected 4 points and posted 6 goals after the first three games. It also allowed 6 goals. Bernadette Heras nailed San Antonio’s only goal in last Saturday’s game. Also on the San Antonio Footloose roster are Christian Castro, Mareko Tekpua, Jherico Tiamzon, Thaiphi Austria, J.M. Rojas, Skyler Secharmedal, Mia Carreon, Charizama Aragon, Nicolas Tkel, James Garcia, and Dave Tanghal.

Fake Madrid’s 13th goal came from Guineverre Borja, who has Sunjoon Tenorio, Logan Mister, Edwin Kim, Bradley Camacho, Clayton Izuka, and Lyka Sally as teammates.

Meanwhile, the second round of the co-ed tournament starts today with San Antonio Footloose taking on Astig Futsal at 5:30pm and Fake Madrid colliding against Spencer United at 6:15pm. (Saipan Tribune)
