The Northern Marianas College has announced that registration for the Spring 2013 semester will begin on Monday, Jan. 14, and run through Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013. Students can register on the day designated for their PowerCampus ID number during this week. Late registration is on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.
New and re-admitted students are required to attend the spring 2013 student orientation scheduled prior to registration. New or returning students who do not attend a student orientation will not be allowed to register for courses. Those who wish to take courses at NMC must take the placement tests. There is a $25 fee for each placement test that must be paid in advance at the NMC Cashier (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4pm). Students will not be allowed into the testing room without proof of payment (a receipt for the placement test fee or the NMC application fee) and must also bring a valid photo ID (driver's license, passport or school ID). Payment for the application fee will cover the English placement test fee. Students who have a fee waiver must obtain a placement test slip from the Office of Admissions and Records prior to taking the test.
After taking the placement tests, students can meet with their academic advisers, who will assist students complete registration forms and create class schedules. Students may register between 9am and 6pm Monday through Friday during registration week.
The college offers several degree and certificate programs, including a bachelor of science degree in education (emphasis on elementary education, early childhood education, special education, or rehabilitation and human services), associate degrees in business, business administration (emphasis on accounting, business management, or computer applications), liberal arts, nursing, natural resources management, criminal justice, and hospitality management. Moreover, it offers short-term certificate programs in different vocational, academic, and professional areas.
