HAGATNA, Guam (AP)-The Guam Army National Guard is preparing to send 600 soldiers to Afghanistan.
The Pacific Daily News reports the I-294th Infantry Regiment soldiers will deploy in the next few months. It will be one of the largest deployments ever for the territory's Guard.
Soldiers were at the Guam National Guard Readiness Center on Friday updating their financial, family and health information on file. This will ensure their families get the support they need while they're away.
The soldiers will undergo three months of training on the mainland before spending nine months in Afghanistan.
