Kilili reacts to Obama's plans on guns

Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) issued a statement recently in response to President Obama's plans to reduce gun violence:

“Even the Northern Mariana Islands is not safe from gun violence. So, I welcome the actions that President Obama has committed to take to make our children and communities safer here and throughout America.

“As a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, I am particularly eager to address the issue of school safety, so our children and teachers can remain focused on learning and spend their time in school without fear. I look forward to taking prompt legislative action on the Comprehensive School Safety program the President is proposing that will allow schools to hire additional psychologists and counselors and to be prepared for safety emergencies.”

“I, also, want to take this opportunity to applaud our Public School System administration, our local law enforcement and public safety agencies, and our local media for the actions they have already taken to raise our awareness of how to respond when any of us finds ourselves confronted with a violent situation.” (PR)
