Terry Guerrero reigned supreme in the CNMI Women's Golf Association's January Ace of the Month tournament held last Jan. 12 at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort's west course.
Guerrero recorded a pair of 45s at Laolao west's front and back sides for an even gross tally of 90 that was shaved into a field-low net total of 70 that earned her bragging rights for this month, which was accomplished over a sizeable field of 17, as well as passage into the group's annual two-day season's end tournament coveted finale event, scheduled in April.
Four strokes back in second place came Kyung Ran Seo who scratched in a pair 46s on the day for a raw 92 that was trimmed down to a 74 net total after the handicap adjustment.
The club's two-time reigning overall points leader Shiori Onoue rounded out the third position with a 42 on the front followed up with a 38 on the back nine for an impressive raw card of 80 that was factored into a 75 net total.
Other notables include a gross low card of 79 submitted by Yuko Togawa (40/39), which came out two strokes ahead of the two-time low gross champion Noriko Togawa (42/39), while fourth placer Grace Wang (40/42) finished with an impressive raw count of 82 for a 77 net sum; and fifth placer Sun Suk Kim (43/40) who submitted a gross card of 83 matching Wang's 77 net result.
Established in 2007, the CWGA is a non-profit organization founded to promote, encourage and introduce women to the sport of golf in the CNMI. The CWGA utilizes a standard net score format, where a predetermined point system is tallied during the season.
First place is awarded 15 points, in addition to a bid into the two-day Ace of Aces Championship, while 14 points goes to second and so on down through the Top 10 place finishers; the remaining participants each reach one point. Its season traditionally starts in May and ends in April.
