McCreadie sends letter to US Navy on closure of Admiral Nimitz Golf Course

HAGÅTÑA, Guam-Guam Sen. Brant McCreadie yesterday sent a letter to Rear Admiral Tilghman Payne regarding the upcoming closure of Admiral Nimitz Golf Course.

Sen. McCreadie attended a meeting hosted by Guam Sen. Tina Rose Muña-Barnes to hear the golf community's concern and opposition to the closure of the golf course. According to reports, the last golfing day will be on Feb. 10, 2013.

“I share in the golfing community's concern regarding the closure of Admiral Nimitz Golf Course,” said Sen. McCreadie. “The negative impact the course's closure will have on the sport in Guam will be severe.”

Sen. McCreadie's letter informs Admiral Payne of his commitment to find a way to keep the course open. Sen. McCreadie further adds, “facilities like Admiral Nimitz Golf Course are important to our people's health and wellness. All measures must be taken before it is closed, and I plan to work with Senator Barnes, the Navy and the golfing community to see what options are available.”
