Delta Air Lines is first title sponsor for 2013 MMAC

2013 Marianas March Against Cancer Committee chair Emanuel Borja, fourth right, is joined by other committee members as he accepts the ceremonial airline ticket from Delta Air Lines sales and marketing representatives Christopher Concepcion and Esther Sound during the brief ceremony at the airline's check-in counter at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport yesterday morning. (Clarissa V. David) Delta Air Lines became the first title sponsor for the 2013 Marianas March Against Cancer after donating yesterday airline tickets and travel vouchers for the upcoming fundraiser dedicated to raising cancer awareness in the community.

Title sponsorship for MMAC, the annual signature fundraising event of Commonwealth Cancer Association, is given to companies that donate $3,000 or more in cash, products or services and is considered the event's highest level of sponsorship.

Delta Air Lines sales and marketing representatives Christopher Concepcion and Esther Sound presented MMAC Committee members one roundtrip ticket to the U.S., a roundtrip ticket to Japan, and $300 worth of travel vouchers in a brief ceremony at their check-in counter at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport.

The donation will be among the exciting prizes to be given away in the raffle draw during the MMAC event slated for April 26-27 at the Hopwood Jr. High School Field in Chalan Piao.

“Delta Air Lines is a tireless supporter in the fight against cancer. We're humbled by this opportunity to become a title sponsor. We wish the committee luck in raising funds for this great cause,” said Concepcion, who is also a MMAC volunteer.

For his part, 2013 MMAC Committee overall chair Emanuel Borja said they are very happy to have Delta Air Lines on board their roster of sponsors for the event which is now on its 11th year.

One of the major airline companies servicing the CNMI, Delta Air Lines is the second business to step up and express support for MMAC. Last month, Traders Insurance donated to the cause for the first time and became a major sponsor.

“We need all the help that we can get from the business community. They are a great asset in this fight against cancer,” Borja told Saipan Tribune.

Committee member Catherine Attao-Toves disclosed that they are in the process of reaching out to potential teams that would participate in this year's event. So far, 7 out of the 16 teams that participated last year have signed up for the 2013 MMAC.

“There's no deadline. As long as they jump on board even a week before the event, we will still get them going,” she added.
