The 6th Annual Marianas Coffee Trail Run on Saipan kicks off this Saturday at 6:30am with lower rates offered to participating runners and walkers.
Early bird registration fees by tomorrow (Jan. 24) are $10 for children ages 12 and under, $15 for athletes ages 13-18 years old, and $25 for participants in the 19 and older age group. Registration forms for the event are also available at the Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA) website under Events Calendar at www.mymarianas.com or can be picked up at the MVA office in San Jose.
Latecomers can still register until 5:30am on race day for an additional $10 over the early bird fee. Walkers are welcomed to participate in the 10K short course.
Around 80 participants are expected for the event, which features a 15K trail run and a 10K short course from the beach at the American Memorial Park in Garapan to the top of Mt. Tapochao, the peak of the mountain range originating in the Marianas Trench. The course boasts some of the most picturesque views of Saipan and traverses wild coffee plantations of the Japanese colonial period and the newer plantations of the Marianas Coffee Co.
Awards will be presented to the Top 3 finishers in the male and female divisions. All participants will receive a finisher's t-shirt, certificate of participation, Marianas Coffee, and an invitation to the awards banquet following the race at the Micro Beach Pavilion at 11:30 am.
