Recent tax decisions to be discussed in SHRM meeting

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) CNMI Chapter is pleased to announce its January general membership meeting on the topic of “Recent Tax Decisions That Affect Employers & Employees,” which will be presented by David J. Burger, CPA, of Burger and Comer, P.C.

This lunch meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Saipan's Sand Castle on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, from 11:30am to 1:30pm.

This presentation is open to the public and will be an invaluable opportunity for employers and employees to learn more about the important federal tax changes and decisions, which will affect both businesses and individuals. Other CNMI tax issues will also be addressed.

Burger will present on important topics such as:

-How the “Fiscal Cliff” agreement affects you

-The exemption of Filipinos working in the CNMI from FICA taxes between now and Dec. 31, 2014

-Rebates on the FICA taxes already deducted

-What will be the procedure to reimburse these payments

-The IRS’ announcement that they would no longer impose Old-age Survivors, and Disability Insurance, or OASDI, tax on Philippine nationals who are working in the CNMI during the transition period to implementation of full U.S. immigration scenario that is currently scheduled to occur on January 1, 2015.

-Other CNMI and Federal tax issues
