“I'm going to continue to uphold the oath of my office.”
Thus states Superior Court associate judge Perry B. Inos yesterday after Gov. Benigno R. Fitial nominated him to serve as associate justice of the CNMI Supreme Court.
In an interview with Saipan Tribune, Inos thanked Fitial for nominating him and that he looks forward to working with Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro and Associate Justice John A. Manglona if the Senate confirms his nomination.
Inos, 46, said he also looks forward with meeting with the senators.
“I don't know when the date is, it's up to the Senate to set the date and time for that [confirmation process]. But I'm ready for it if they notify me,” he said.
The judge said he is really grateful to the governor for the nomination, which he did not expect.
“I was asked first. There was an offer and I accepted it,” Inos said.
Inos began to serve on the bench on Sept. 22, 2008. His first six-year term as a judge will expire in September 2014.
Inos successfully hurdled his first retention election last Nov. 6 when voters decided to retain him, along with Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman.
