Girl sustains minor injuries in assault

On Jan. 17, 2013, DPS Patrol officers responded to a disturbance call at the grounds of the Thursday Street Market in Garapan. The call was received at about 8:54pm. It was learned through the preliminary investigations of Officer Rhonda John that a 15-year-old female was assaulted by three other minor females. Two males, a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old, were also involved in the assault. The incident occurred at the entrance of the Fishing Base, west of the Street Market grounds.

As a result of the assault on the minor victim, she was taken to the Commonwealth Health Center where she was treated for scratches to her face and a laceration to one of her ears. She was later released from CHC. The victim at the time of the assault was with three of her friends who were minors between the ages of 13-15 years old. Preliminary investigations further revealed that “name calling” with profanities were exchanged between the group that eventually led to the altercation. The two males involved in the assault were arrested the following day. The two are charged with disturbing the peace, assault and battery. The adult, Frankie Aldan Rangamau, was booked and detained at the Department of Corrections and the minor was booked and detained at the Juvenile Corrections Unit.

Juvenile detectives are conducting further investigations into this incident and, depending on the result of their investigations, further arrests may be forthcoming. (DPS)
