Guard hurt in foiled poker rob

A security guard was injured during an alleged foiled robbery at a poker arcade along Airport Road in Dandan early yesterday morning.

Saipan Tribune learned from sources that the victim, a Filipino security guard of Taga Security Agency, sustained three stab wounds in the neck. He was taken to the Commonwealth Health Center and then released.

Police have arrested a suspect, who was positively tagged by the poker arcade's cashier. A second suspect, the alleged lookout, remains at large.

Sources said the cashier at Skyway Poker noticed that the first suspect had a bulging waistline when he entered the establishment. The cashier immediately alerted the security guard about the suspicious man, who went to the water cooler to drink.

The guard approached and asked the suspect what was in his waistline. The suspect replied that he was not carrying anything and left.

As the guard was on his way outside, the suspect, who waited for him near the door, suddenly attacked him with a knife.

The guard ran outside, fearing that the suspect would overwhelm him inside. Once outside, the two struggled. The suspect then ran away.

Another male person allegedly acted as a lookout outside the establishment.
