Rota appropriations bill heads to Fitial

The Rota Legislative Delegation passed on its first and final reading Friday a $75,800 appropriations bill for Rota programs and activities, up from the original proposal of $45,000 in poker and pachinko slot machine license fees.

Rota Legislative Delegation chair Rep. Teresita Santos' (R-Rota) House Local Bill 18-3 is now on its way to Gov. Benigno R. Fitial for action, after the bill passed by a vote of 3-0 with one absence.

Present at the meeting were Santos, delegation vice chair Sen. Jovita Taimanao (Ind-Rota) and Senate Floor Leader Victor Hocog (R-Rota). Sen. Juan Ayuyu (Ind-Rota) remains in jail for criminal charges.

Based on the numbers provided during the Friday afternoon session, the bulk will go toward terminally ill patients and those on dialysis, and the rest will go toward the Rota Scholarship Fund, retroactive salary payments under Public Law 7-31, Rota Little League, Rota Liaison Office, Rota Mayor's Office, and Department of Public Safety/Fire Division fuel.
