Red Cross, Transpac group tie up for 2013 ARC Walkathon

The NMI Chapter of the American Red Cross announced yesterday that the Transpac group of companies will again be a premier sponsor for this year's Walkathon.

“We are grateful and pleased that the Coke-Subway-Foremost-Scoops-Glimpses group of companies will be supporting the Red Cross event,” said John Hirsh, executive director of the NMI Chapter. “Transpac has a long track record of helping our community, particularly with events focused on fitness.”

This year's walkathon will take place on Saipan, Rota, and Tinian on April 13. In addition to the 10K the event there will be 5K and Headstart 2K course for the younger children. A $15 donation to the Red Cross provides entry to the walk, an event T-shirt and refreshments from Coke-Foremost and Subway.

The Red Cross walkathon is the largest walking event in Micronesia with more than 2,500 participants. Prizes will be given out to schools with the most number of walkers and to those individuals and schools that raise the most funds.

For more information about the 27th annual Walkathon or how to volunteer, call the NMI Chapter at 234-3459. (ARC)
