The Northern Marianas Housing Corp. has a new Mortgage & Credit Division manager in Chris Pangelinan.
Pangelinan, who officially started working on Feb. 4, attended Thursday his first board meeting where he was welcomed by the agency’s board of directors.
“NMHC is one organization that’s dedicated to helping the community, especially the low-income families. It’s a great opportunity and I want to be part of the organization,” he told Saipan Tribune in an interview.
Pangelinan said he holds a degree in finance from the University of Washington. He was employed in a bank in Seattle where he was in charge of loan processing and origination, among others.
“I’ve been gone for too long and I’m glad to be back here on Saipan and help the community, he said.
When he returned, Pangelinan worked for a year at the Commonwealth Healthcare Center where he took charge of a newly created department under the business office unit.
Asked how he feels about working now as Mortgage & Credit Division manager for the NMHC, Pangelinan said he feels honored since it’s a sought-after position.
“It has its own challenges, definitely. I’m still in the first week so I’m still trying to get situated, looking what needs to be done and what kind of challenges and issues that we need to address,” he added.
Pangelinan maintains that collection is one of the areas that needs attention.
“We’ll take a look at that and do an assessment and come up with some kind of process to update the current process now. Basically, to improve on the collection effort,” he explained.
NMHC is the Commonwealth’s key provider for housing, mortgage, and community development programs.
