Former representative Juan I. Tenorio arrested for alleged sex abuse

Police arrested over the weekend former representative Juan Iguel Tenorio for allegedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl at a residence in As Matuis.

Police officer Jeffrey Norita served the arrest warrant on the 64-year-old Tenorio in As Matuis Saturday night on charges of sexual assault in the second degree, assault and battery, sexual assault of a minor in second degree, and disturbing the peace.

Tenorio's initial appearance will be at 2:30pm today, Monday, before Superior Court associate judge David A. Wiseman.

In issuing the warrant, Wiseman imposed a $50,000 cash bail on Tenorio.

Police detective Peter A. Aldan stated in his report that the incident happened between May 31, 2010, and December 2010.

Aldan said it was only on Dec. 30, 2012, when the girl confessed to her mother that Tenorio touched her private parts.

The girl's father reportedly confronted Tenorio, who denied any inappropriate touching. He allegedly said he was only massaging her.

Tenorio used to serve as the CNMI personnel director. He is currently the human resource manager for Hafadai Hotel.

More details to follow.
