Insider got past Cargo Express, 78-70, and Yuman Construction defeated Hite, 82-79, as the playoffs of the 3rd Blue Haus Invitational Basketball League continued Sunday night at the Garapan Basketball Court.
In addition the R-Rebels defeated Sun Palace, 89-81, last Thursday, while Angie's Boys had the Rollers in a chokehold, 75-52, with just over six minutes left in regulation before rain caused a suspension of play.
In Sunday's opener, Insider got off to a strong start and assumed control, 20-12, in the opening 10 minutes with good ball movement.
Kevin Deleon then scattered 8 points in the second quarter while Abelarda Sacramento capped the Insider onslaught with a 3-pointer as the team entered halftime with a stout 42-24 margin.
Cargo Express was unable to make up any ground in the third frame as Insider's bench players came in well rested to thwart their comeback attempt and the latter had little trouble securing the win in the final stanza.
Cargo Express' Sonny Lerio dropped 18 points in a last-ditch rally cry, which included four long-range strikes. However, his effort only earned him top scoring honors with 28 points, while Insider's Jhoy Dayrit lead a well-balanced attack with 16.
In the late match, Hite busted four 3-pointers in the first quarter to spark a 27-15 lead and maintained a double-digit advantage at the half, 46-36, thanks largely to a dozen markers by Walter Mendez in the second quarter.
Andy Mortos carried Yuman through the first half with 17 points complemented by 12 in support from Bryan Ajoste.
Yuman regrouped at the break and surmounted its deficit and clung to a 63-62 lead heading into the final canto after a 15-point uproar by Ajoste who canned seven free throws in the third quarter.
Yuman then called on its spot shooters to bring it home.
Ajoste topped the field with 30 points, while Hite's Mendez turned in 25 on the short end.
