Sentencing of man in 'ice' case reset

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona vacated yesterday the sentencing hearing today of a man arrested in Tacoma, Washington, who pleaded guilty to “ice” trafficking on Saipan.

Manglona said that Jordan Mendiola Reyes will be sentenced at a later date that will allow him adequate notice.

Manglona reset the sentencing to March 20, 2013 at 1:30pm.

A federal grand jury indicted Reyes in August 2012 with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and two counts of distribution of methamphetamine.

From June 10, 2010, until Aug. 22, 2012, Reyes allegedly conspired with other persons to distribute “ice” on Saipan.

After the indictment was filed in federal court, authorities arrested Reyes in Tacoma, Washington and then brought him to Saipan.

Reyes signed a plea deal with the U.S. government.
