(Contributed Photo) Jeon Me Ae grossed an impressive field low gross round of 77 that held true against a field of 19 who turned out for the CNMI Women's Golf Association's February Ace of the Month tournament held last Feb. 9 at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort's west course.

She penciled in a 41 on the front nine and stormed through the backside with an even 36 to clip eventual third place finisher Sun Suk Kim by a stroke to earn low-gross honors.

Jeon ended up with a net score of 71 that was equaled by runner-up Sherlyn Jones, though the former won via handicap tiebreaker rule.

Jones logged 42 on the first nine holes and finished up with a 40 for a raw tally of 82. She is also already a previous ace winner from earlier in the season.

Kim led Jeon at the turn with a 39, but fell just short despite steadying another solid 39 on the back nine for a stroke round of 78 that factored into a 73 net total.

Dolores Yamagishi (46-45) tied Kim's net score, but settled for fourth place via handicap tiebreaker rule.

CWGA's March Ace event and April's opening round represent the last chances for players still vying for a berth into the two-round, season-ending finale tournament scheduled for this coming April.

Established in 2007, the CWGA is a non-profit organization founded to promote, encourage and introduce women to the sport of golf in the CNMI. The CWGA utilizes a standard net score format, where a predetermined point system is tallied during the season.

First place is awarded 15 points, in addition to a bid into the two-day Ace of Aces Championship, while 14 points goes to second and so on down through the Top 10 place finishers; the remaining participants each reach one point. Its season traditionally starts in May and ends in April.
