Tan Holdings is once again sponsoring a three-mile walk and fundraiser this Saturday in memory of former Tan Holdings executive John “JP” Pangelinan.
Tan Holdings employees and their family members are encouraged to participate in the event dubbed as “JP Walk.” The company will pay the $5 registration fee for every employee who will join the walk. Members of the community are also invited to join the event that aims to raise funds for the Marianas March Against Cancer.
Registration starts at 5am at the pavilion in front of the JP Centre along Beach Road. Refreshments, raffle prizes, and entertainment will be available at the end of the walk at the Susupe Beach Park.
Pangelinan was the publisher of the Saipan Tribune. He was born on Saipan on Oct. 26, 1937 and died on Feb. 5, 2008, after a long, brave battle with cancer.
“He left us five years ago but his memory will remain indelible for those who have been lucky enough to know him. Whether as a colleague, a friend, an uncle, or a dad, JP was the quintessential gentleman, full of compassion and good cheer, always smiling and not above a naughty joke once in a while,” stated in a Tan Holdings press release.
Besides his sense of humor, JP knew how to give praise to those who were doing well in their jobs. His thoughtfulness and his capacity to give praise where it is due made him the ideal boss. Yet he was also not one to mince words if he thinks you need to shape up. He was such a kind-hearted person, though, that he will say it in a manner that won't hurt, the statement added.
