Co-op Jobs Fair tomorrow

PSS Cooperative Education Career Fair will take place on Feb. 26, from 1pm to 3pm at the Hyatt Regency Saipan.

The Cooperative Education Program is an internship program that allows high school students to gain and develop on-the-job training in exchange for academic credit. By participating in the Co-op Job Fair, employers will be able network with high school students and will contribute toward developing a new generation of skilled workers. Air Force, Navy training on FDM, Warning Area 517

The U.S. Air Force will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla on Feb. 25 from 7pm to 5am, Feb. 26 and 28 from 7pm to 11:45pm, and March 1 from 7pm to 11:45pm.

The U.S. Navy will conduct training at Warning Area 517 on Feb. 26 and 27 from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The general public-especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators-are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.

The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants. W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. (PR)

UOG offers free math placement test prep

The University of Guam Kubre Office is offering a free Math Placement Test Preparatory Program for high school students planning to attend the University of Guam. Sessions will be held from Feb. 25 to April 4, 2013, Mondays through Thursdays, from 6pm to 8pm; on Fridays from 5pm to 7pm; and on Saturdays from 12pm to 4pm. Schools invited to Academic Challenge Bowl

The Marianas High School chapter of the National Honor Society will be hosting the elementary-level Academic Challenge Bowl on April 6, 2013, Saturday. All public and private elementary schools are invited to participate in this event. Each participating school will need to form a team consisting of five students from grade four to six.

'College Night' at Saipan Southern High

Saipan Southern High School will host a "College Night" tomorrow, Feb. 26, 2013, at the cafeteria from 6:30pm to about 9pm. There will be a presentation on the entire college process, along with materials handed out, and a Q&A, sponsored by Thespians of the Western Pacific Islands. All interested students in grades 9 to 12 are invited to attend. Parents are also welcome to come. (TWPI)

Tinian Municipal Council sets session

The 14th Tinian Municipal Council will have a regular session today, Feb. 25, 2013, at 10am, at the Municipal Council conference room. Written comments on agenda items may be submitted to the Council clerk at the Municipal Council office, prior to the convening of the session. Oral testimony may be presented during council's session. If you wish to present oral testimony, inform the Council clerk no later than 24 hours prior to the session. (PR)

ARC Preparedness Health & Safety trainings

The American Red Cross is scheduled to conduct Preparedness Health & Safety training on the following dates:

-Feb. 27 at 6pm: Pediatric CPR/AED

-Feb. 28 at 6pm: Adult CPR/AED Blended Learning

Classes are held at the chapter training room on Airport Road. Blended Learning courses involve online courses with in-person skills exam. Course fees apply.
