Friends of the Arts sets auditions for 'Miss Saigon'

The Friends of the Arts will be presenting Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil’s Miss Saigon on May 3, 4, and 5. Interested performers and would-be performers are invited to try out. Auditions will be held at the Dolphin Theater in Marianas High School on Tuesday, March 12, from 6pm to 8pm. Copies of the script can be picked up for viewing at the Dolphin Theater on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 26-27, and at the MHS Main Office secretary Thursday and Friday, Feb 28 and March 1. (PR)

New business hours for the Health & Vital Statistics Office

As part of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.'s commitment to providing quality services to the public, effective Feb. 19, 2013, the Office of Health & Vital Statistics' new business hours of operations is as follows: Mondays to Fridays, 7:30am to 4:30pm and will remain open during lunch hours. SHRM presents 'Luncheon With the AG'

The Society for Human Resource Management CNMI Chapter will host a general membership meeting tomorrow, Feb. 28, 2013, from 11:30am to 1pm at the Pacific Island Club's Charley's Cabaret. It will include a presentation by Attorney General JP San Nicolas. This presentation is open to the public.

Aquarius Beach Tower sets cleanup

Air Force, Navy training on FDM, Warning Area 517

The U.S. Air Force will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla on Feb. 25 from 7pm to 5am, Feb. 26 and 28 from 7pm to 11:45pm, and March 1 from 7pm to 11:45pm. The U.S. Navy will conduct training at Warning Area 517 on Feb. 26 and 27 from 8:30am to 3:30pm.

The general public-especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators-are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.

The location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants. W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. (PR)

Bank of Guam scholarships deadline

Just over two weeks remain for applications to be submitted for the Bank of Guam IFIT Scholarship. Applications are available for the Bank of Guam IFIT Scholarship, which makes $2,000 available for five graduating seniors to attend a U.S. accredited four-year college or university. The scholarship also includes a paid summer internship at the bank's branches.

Applications are available at all Bank of Guam branches and the Customer Service Department in Hagatna branch lobby. They have also been distributed to Guam's high schools. Only originals will be accepted. (BOG)

UOG to host Marianas History Conference

The 2013 Marianas History Conference, “One Archipelago, Many Stories: Integrating Our Narratives,” will be held in Guam on Aug. 30-31, 2013. Papers and posters may be submitted under the following general categories: Ancient History; Early Colonial (17th - 18th centuries); Late Colonial (19th - early 20th centuries) World War II; Recent (post-war); and Oral History and Genealogical Research.

Abstracts for papers and posters may be submitted at guampedia.com by April 3, 2013. The Guampedia website also accepts conference registration with an early registration fee of $25 or $10 for students with a valid ID. The number of registrants will be capped at 220, thus early registration is highly recommended. Late registration is $40.

Schools invited to Academic Challenge Bowl

The Marianas High School chapter of the National Honor Society will be hosting the elementary-level Academic Challenge Bowl on April 6, 2013, a Saturday.

All public and private elementary schools are invited to participate in this event. Each participating school will need to form a team consisting of five students from grade four to six.

ARC Preparedness Health & Safety trainings

The American Red Cross is scheduled to conduct Preparedness Health & Safety training on the following dates:

-Feb. 27 at 6pm: Pediatric CPR/AED

-Feb. 28 at 6pm: Adult CPR/AED Blended Learning

Classes are held at the chapter training room on Airport Road. Blended Learning courses involve online courses with in-person skills exam. Course fees apply.
