Over 240 Tinian residents availed of the free health services during the 2nd Health Expo held on Feb. 24.
Pastor Paulo Restauro of Saipan Seventh-day Adventist Church said Monday that the success of this year's expo encourages them to make it an annual event.
Restauro said two planes were chartered for the 10 individuals from Saipan composed of four dentists and two dental assistants from SDA Clinic, three representatives from Saipan SDA Church, and one optician from Hardt Eye Clinic, who volunteered their time and services to extend the free services to the Tinian community.
Among the services provided were dental screenings and procedures, eye screenings, blood sugar and blood pressure checkups, and counseling.
Restauro said that dental services were held at the Tinian Health Center, while the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs gymnasium served as the main venue for the other free health services.
He acknowledged the cooperation of members of the Tinian SDA Church and JC Café staffers for their assistance.
“We would like to thank the Lord for the success of this program and also to everyone that made this event possible,” said Restauro.
The first Tinian Health Expo, which was held two years ago, served more than 150 individuals.
