Police arrested over the weekend a 57-year-old man who allegedly sexually abused a 10-year-old girl on Saipan.
Masaii Misasy Samuel was arrested for sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, oral copulation, and indecent exposure in the second degree.
His bail was set Monday at $50,000 cash.
Police detective Rudolfo Hermosilla stated in his report that a police officer responded on Feb. 5, 2013, to a call about a possible sexual abuse at a house in Dandan.
Hermosilla said the girl told her grandmother that Samuel sexually abused her in November 2012.
The girl resisted by repeatedly punching Samuel's head. The suspect, however, allegedly continued sexually abusing her.
The detective said that in an interview with police on Feb. 11, Samuel admitted sexually abusing the girl but denied that there was penetration.
