Man, 65, allegedly rapes woman in front of her child

A 65-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday night in Garapan for allegedly raping a woman in front of her minor child.

Joaquin Reyes Lizama was taken to the Superior Court yesterday for his initial appearance on charges of rape, disturbing the peace, oral copulation, and indecent exposure.

Associate Judge David A. Wiseman imposed a $50,000 cash bail for Lizama's temporary release.

Preliminary hearing will be on March 5 at 1:30pm.

Police detective Flora Danica Aguon stated in her report that the alleged rape happened inside a motel in Gualo Rai last Feb. 19.

It was the cousin of the alleged victim who called police on Monday night to report the incident. Apparently, the alleged victim confessed that she was scared because Lizama has been repeatedly calling her.

Aguon stated that, according to the victim, she and her daughter went with Lizama, who had allegedly offered her a place stay at a house that was owned by his family.

Lizama, however, brought them to a motel. Inside the motel room, the suspect allegedly had sex with her in front of her child.

The alleged victim told police that she did not want to fight back because she was so scared and did not want to risk her and her child's safety.
