Diding Hocog won Amigo Golf Club's February Ace of the Month Tournament after turning back all comers last Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Kingfisher Golf Links in Talafofo.
Hocog came into the tournament three strokes behind top qualifier Felix Sasamoto, but saved her best for last with a net score of 67, which was built around a gross score of 91.
With her 72 in the qualifier last Feb. 10, Hocog wound up with a two-round net score total of 139 to beat Sasamoto by a couple of strokes.
Sasamoto, meanwhile, could not maintain his lead and settled for second place with a total net score of 141. He inked a front gross of 47 in the front nine and a 45 at the back for a 92 gross and a net of 72. The spearfishing legend scored a 69 in the qualifier.
Doll Yamagishi came in third with a total net score of 144. She shot a 49 at the front and 45 at the back for a gross total of 84. With her 23 handicap, Yamagishi came away with a net of 71.
Other two-round net scores were John Guerrero, 145; Lorraine Babauta, Ben Jones Sr. and Dan Quitugua, all finished with net scores of 149; John Matsumoto, 150; and Dr. Hocog with 163.
Amigo Golf Club officials are informing all members that the March qualifying tournament is set for this Sunday, March 3, also at the Kingfisher Golf Links. Showtime is 11:30am and tee time at 12 noon. (AGC)
