BankGuam declares Q1 dividends
BankGuam Holding Co. announced yesterday that its board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.125 per share at the board’s regular meeting on Feb. 25, 2013. The dividend will be paid on March 29, 2013, to shareholders of record on March 15, 2013.
“The continuing strength and solid performance of Bank of Guam has allowed us to pay dividends to our shareholders as we have since 1976,” explained president and board chair Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero. (BoG)
Half-day session for MHS
Marianas High School will have a half-day session on March 7, 2013, due to the distribution of mid-progress reports, which will be held at the Marianas High School Gymnasium from 4pm to 6pm. All students will be released at 1pm.
Hopwood, WSR to lead PSS Health Walk
Hopwood Junior High School and WSR Elementary School will participate in the PSS Health Walk event this Saturday, March 2, 2013, starting at 6am. All parents, students, teachers, and staff of both schools are encouraged to come out this Saturday morning for a healthy walk. This month, the two schools are in charge of this activity. Refreshments and water will be served. Participating students will be given bonus points by their teacher in PE and other subject areas as an incentive for their participation with their families. McTeacher's Night for Hopwood, OES
Hopwood Junior High School will be the featured school in McTeacher's Night in March. Hopwood employees are scheduled to perform services every Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting March 5 and 6 to March 26 and 27 from 5pm to 8pm.
McTeacher’s Night for Oleai Elementary School is also scheduled for the month of March. OES teacher, staff, and PTSA officers will be serving at McDonald’s every Mondays on March 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 5pm to 8pm.
All parents and the community of Hopwood Jr. High School and Oleai Elementary School are encouraged to drop by McDonald's (Middle Road) and support these schools’ fundraising activity. (PR)
MIFICPA to host tax seminar on Saturday
The Marianas Institute of Filipino CPAs and Accountants will be hosting a tax seminar dubbed “Tax Updates 2013” on March 2, 2013, Saturday, from 1pm to 5pm at the Charley's Cabaret of Pacific Islands Club. Registration starts at 12:30pm. The seminar will be conducted by David J. Burger, of Burger & Comer.

Tinian swearing-in for Hofschneider
The Offices of the Governor & Lieutenant Governor, together with the Office of the Mayor of Tinian & Aguiguan, would like to invite the general public to a swearing-in ceremony for Lt. Gov. Jude U. Hofschneider on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Antonio M. Borja Ampitheater, Tinian.
The ceremony will begin at 10am, followed by a dinner reception at 6pm, at Natibu Park, Tinian. An inaugural Mass will also be held for Hofschneider at the San Jose Parish, Tinian, at 8am. (PR)
Inos is guest speaker at Chamber meeting
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly general membership meeting at the Saipan World Resort on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Luncheon begins at 11:30am and the meeting commences at noon. Gov. Eloy Inos will be the guest speaker. Northern Marianas College will also provide information about the new relationship between NMC and the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education.

Friends of the Arts sets auditions for 'Miss Saigon'
The Friends of the Arts will be presenting Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil’s Miss Saigon on May 3, 4, and 5. Interested performers and would-be performers are invited to try out. Auditions will be held at the Dolphin Theater in Marianas High School on Tuesday, March 12, from 6pm to 8pm. Copies of the script can be picked up for viewing at the Dolphin Theater on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 26-27, and at the MHS Main Office secretary Thursday and Friday, Feb 28 and March 1. (PR)

UOG to host Marianas History Conference
The 2013 Marianas History Conference, “One Archipelago, Many Stories: Integrating Our Narratives,” will be held in Guam on Aug. 30-31, 2013. Abstracts for papers and posters may be submitted at guampedia.com by April 3, 2013. The Guampedia website also accepts conference registration with an early registration fee of $25 or $10 for students with a valid ID. The number of registrants will be capped at 220. Late registration is $40.

Schools invited to Academic Challenge Bowl
The Marianas High School chapter of the National Honor Society will be hosting the elementary-level Academic Challenge Bowl on April 6, 2013, a Saturday.
All public and private elementary schools are invited to participate in this event. Each participating school will need to form a team consisting of five students from grade four to six.
