Nine teams have already confirmed their participation in the 4th Shirley's Coffee Shop Basketball League that will open shop in April at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.
Leading the list are 2011 finalists DFS Galleria and Public School System. Joining them are Mobil, Kanoa Resort, Mariana Resort, Kalayaan, Inc., Docomo Pacific, GPPC, and host Shirley's Coffee Shop. Bank of Guam, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Pacific Trading, Co., Pacific Star, Aqua Resort/Pacific Islands Club, and TBK Corp. have also expressed their interest in the league, but have yet to commit.
Teams have until March 8 to confirm participation in the Shirley's caging, which will kick on first week of April. Entrance fee is $500 and squads have an option to avail the registration fee and uniform package for only $750. The uniform set is for a 14-player roster and will be available on a first come, first serve basis, as only eight colors are offered.
Each uniform set costs only $15.50 and is made from high-quality materials, according to league coordinator Irish Pagarao, who added that participating squads must be in their complete uniforms during the opening of the league.
Games in the Shirley's caging will be played three times a week or every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each squad must have nine players who are employees of the company they are representing. Participating teams can recruit five more players, who must not be employed by another company that will also play in the 2013 season. Then at game time, teams must have at least one employee on the court. Violation of the special rule will result to technical fouls charged to the offending squad.
