Gov. Eloy S. Inos appointed late Thursday afternoon a new Tinian senator to fill the vacancy left by now Lt. Gov. Jude U. Hofschneider.
The governor appointed Joaquin H. Borja, the second top vote getter among Tinian senatorial candidates in the 2012 and 2010 elections.
The Senate received the appointment letter at 4:23pm Thursday.
Senate President Ralph Torres (R-Saipan) told Saipan Tribune Friday that he’s grateful for the governor’s prompt action on the Senate’s request to fill the vacancy.
More details to follow in Monday’s paper.
