An unidentified man robbed a bar in San Jose while another man was arrested for allegedly stealing a puppy on Saipan on Saturday, police said yesterday.

In the second case, Augustine Tudela Castro, 53, was arrested for allegedly stealing a 3-month-old Doberman Pincher worth $2,000.
Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Blas Jr. said that DPS traffic and patrol officers responded to Flame Tree Bar in San Jose on Saturday at 1:20am after receiving a report of a robbery.

Based on the preliminary investigation conducted by patrol officer Jesus Cepeda, an unidentified man approached Chen, a bar employee, to ask about beer prices when he suddenly grabbed her purse and ran outside.

The suspect was described as skinny, tall, had a fair complexion and possibly a local. He was wearing a dark shirt and a pair of short pants.

In the theft case, Blas said that Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives arrested Castro on Saturday at 1:06pm at his home in Fina Sisu for allegedly stealing a puppy. Castro's bail was set at $500 cash.

Blas said the theft of the puppy was reported to the Department of Public Safety on Feb. 1, 2013.

Based on preliminary investigation, the puppy, described as having a brown and red coat, was stolen from a home on Mt. Tapuchao on Jan. 21, 2013.

Blas said that CIB detectives were able to identify Castro as a suspect in the case.
