Russian, Japanese dancers to highlight ballet concert

Glushko's Academy of Arts is bringing in professional ballet dancers from Russia and Japan for the annual staging of the International Ballet of the Stars.

The event is slated for March 16 and 17 at the American Memorial Park Amphitheater. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the show runs from 7pm to 9pm.

“This concert, which meets all international standards, gives our local population the only chance to see world class ballet and to be a part of the global cultural community,” said academy instructor Anna Glushko.

This year's show will feature the husband-and-wife tandem of Alexey Nasadovich and Margarita Rudina, two prima ballerinas from Ekaterinburg, Russia who have performed a few times on island.

Nasadovich and Rudina will be accompanied by their daughter, who is now a student at the world-famous Vaganova Ballet Academy.

Next week's concert will also showcase prima ballerina Asami Takai of Osaa, Japan, who is performing on Saipan for the third time.

Three ballerinas, two junior students, and two ballet teachers, all from Vladivostok, Russia, will complete this year's power cast.

Glushko said the visiting performers will present the 3rd Wedding Act of Sleeping Beauty, as well as the 3rd Wedding Act of Don Quixote, considered the most festive, energetic, and uplifting ballet of all times.

Tickets to the event cost $15 per adult and $10 for children 3 to 12 years old. They are being sold by parents of Glushko's Academy students, all Shell gas stations, Tropical Blendz Restaurant, Shenanigans Restaurant, Café by the Park, and Handbags etc.

According to Glushko, the academy is seeking more event sponsors, who will receive public recognition and complementary concert tickets in exchange for their support.
