2013 MYSN confab calls for presenters

The Micronesian Youth Services Network board is inviting all interested presenters for the 2013 MYSN 9th Annual Conference next month.

The event is slated for April 18 to 19 at the Fiesta Resort & Spa in Garapan, with conference delegates scheduled to arrive between April 15 and 16 then take part in island tours on April 17.

This year's theme is “Pursue, Cultivate, and Sustain a Balance.”

The 2013 MYSN 9th Annual Conference is committed to showcasing practical, culturally competent ideas, strategies, challenges, and best practice efforts aimed at addressing the unique needs of youth and families in our Micronesian region.

“We invite presenters to awaken our senses and thoughts by engaging our participants-primarily youth and parents-in thought-provoking discussions aimed at identifying culturally competent solutions to address the many unique and challenging needs for our families in our villages within and throughout our Micronesia region,” organizers said.

The call for proposals for presentations, workshops, and exhibits should focus on “pressing issues” such as bullying (personal and cyber), domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, underage drinking, teen pregnancy, substance abuse (drugs, alcohol, tobacco), child neglect/abuse, suicide/self-inflicted injury, peer pressure, anger/stress/safety management, and overall health & wellness.

Interested presenters are asked to fill out a form that should be submitted no later than March 22.

To get or submit a presenter form, email johnogonzales@gmail.com or fax (670) 235-7550.

Registration fees for conference participants are set at $125 for the two-day conference package for non-members/awards banquet; $100 for the two-day conference package for members/awards banquet; $100 for a two-day conference package for students/awards banquet; $70 for one-day conference for non-members; $50 for one-day conference rate for members and students.
