The Umang Glee Club emerged victorious in both the festival's small ensemble category and elementary choral competition, while veteran member Leonard Manuel topped the solo competition category.

Glee's soloist Ciscabelle David was presented with the silver award.

According to club music director Karen Ann Alla, this was the group's third year of consistently receiving gold awards in the categories they joined in. She revealed that its elementary students from third to sixth grade also performed well at the festival.

The Umangs are the only active elementary glee club in the Public School System and have always brought honor and pride to the school, PSS, and the community since it started in 2008. Every year, Alla said, they get new members and each year they bring out the best in each student.

“These students and their parents have worked hard to make this trip possible. We are thankful that a lot of people supports and believes in us. We dedicate this award to all of them,” she said.

Saipan Tribune learned that the club was only able to send 18 students to the Guam competition this year due to lack of funds. The group competed in solo, small ensemble, and choral category.
The Umang Glee Club has won many local competitions and performs in school and community events.
