Asuncion, one of the newest congregates at the center, bested seven other contenders, including last year's winner Jesus Pangelinan, in the Man'Amko Pool Tournament held Tuesday.

Besides Asuncion and Pangelinan, the other tournament participants were Roberto Dela Cruz, Ann M. Perry, Leonides Marinas, Kimo Jordan, Pedro Dela Cruz, and Orlando Gondayo.

The tournament is among the regular programs at the center that promote active and healthy living among the island's elderly.

Aging Office coordinator Walter Manglona said the event was very successful and the man'amko enjoyed watching the competition.

Manglona said the tournament was sponsored by the Saipan Seniors Advisory Council, and officials led by president Maria T. Salinas handed a trophy and monetary prize to Asuncion. The council also provided apple green tea to spectators.

“I personally must say that the event showed an amazingly positive feedback in promoting goodwill and friendship amongst our clients, which will ultimately lead to good health and respect,” said Manglona.

The seniors also took part in their weekly ground golf tournament on Wednesday.
