Gov. Eloy S. Inos has named Juan D. Cruz to serve as executive director of the Criminal Justice Planning Agency. Cruz’s appointment does not require the advice and consent of the Senate and will take effect on Monday, March 18.
Cruz has been employed at CJPA since 1995 as a Criminal Justice Planner III and has been the acting executive director since September last year after then executive director Jerome Ierome resigned from his post.
“We have made assessments using our best judgment and believe Mr. Cruz would be the best candidate to serve as the executive director of CJPA,” said Inos. "He has been successfully discharging the duties of the position since it became vacant and his many years of experience with the agency makes him the right person for the job."
In addition to attaining various continuing education certifications related to criminal justice programs and grants management, Cruz holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Washington. He is also a former Marine sergeant for the 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton, California. (Office of the Governor)
