Shirley's caging meeting today

Representatives of teams competing in next month's 4th Shirley's Coffee Shop Basketball League are required to attend a meeting tonight at 6pm at Shirley's Garapan.

The fourth edition of the IT&E- and Advance X-Terminator-sponsored league has 11 squads. The list includes host Shirley's, defending champion DFS, Public School System/Hoops, Kanoa Resort, Kalayaan, Mobil, Mariana Resort, I Love Saipan, Air Apparel, Docomo, and Dollar Days.

Details about uniforms, tournament rules and regulation, and opening ceremony will be discussed in tonight's meeting. Organizers are planning to kick off the league first week of April, but will need the approval of the participating teams.

Games in the Shirley's caging will be played three times a week or every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each squad is allowed to have a maximum of 14 players on its roster, but nine must be employees of the company they are representing. Participating teams can recruit five more players, who must not be employed by another company that will also play in the 2013 season. Then at game time, teams must have at least one employee on the court. Violation of the special rule will result to technical fouls charged to the offending squad.
