Ray Villagomez topped 13 other participants in the X-clusive Golfers Association's February Ace of the Month tournament held early this month at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
Villagomez shot a 47 on the front nine and finished the back side with a 43 for an even gross of 90 that was trimmed down to a field low net of 72.
Mike “Palaksi” Sablan walked away with runner-up honors, shooting a 46 on the first nine holes, followed by a solid 39 on the back nine for a gross of 85 and net 73.
Park Young settled for third place via handicap tiebreaker rule with a 45 on the front and a 46 on the back. His 91 raw score was factored into a 73 net.
Park also won closest to the pin award on hole No. 8. Other closest to the pin winners were Martin Naputi on No. 6, Luis Cepeda on No. 12, and Peter Tenorio on No. 15.
Meanwhile, XGA's March Ace of the Month event is scheduled for March 30 at the Marianas Country Club. Show time is set for noon leading into a 1pm tee off.
XGA is made up of about 30 members and contrary to its name, it is open to the public. The group is currently accepting new members at a reduced annual membership fee for newcomers at $30 (from $50). Renewal for returning members is only $25. Club polo shirts are also available for only $25.
On tournament days, players are also required to foot the discounted green fees along with an added modest charge that goes toward the awards banquet, prize money, and incentives for the club.
