The 2013 Marianas March Against Cancer Committee has another title sponsor in Marianas Variety which pledged to donate $4,000 worth of in-kind contribution to the cause.
MMAC committee members met yesterday with operations manager Salam C. Younis and sales director Jeanette L. Sarabia to make the donation official.
“We always pledge our support to MMAC. They can count on us for help,” Younis said.
Manny Borja, MMAC overall committee chair, welcomed anew Marianas Variety's support to the largest and signature fundraising event of the Commonwealth Cancer Association, a nonprofit group dedicated to promoting cancer awareness and prevention, providing patient support services, and serving as liaison and advocate for cancer issues in the Northern Marianas.
Borja said that over the years, the company has donated printing services for MMAC's promotional materials such as raffle tickets and print advertisements. Additionally, it has printed annual reports of the CCA.
“MMAC values our partnership with Marianas Variety so we're very glad to have them on board again this year. Their donation is going to go a long way even beyond the event,” Borja told Saipan Tribune.
According to Borja, preparations for the upcoming event is doing well as the committee continues to receive not just sponsors but participating teams as well.
These teams that are under different categories will compete for several awards during the 12-hour MMAC event which begins at 6am on April 26 at the Hopwood Jr. High School Field in Chalan Piao.
“Things are looking good for us and we're happy about the support we're getting from the community,” said Borja.
He said interested sponsors and teams can still come in and register to take part in the upcoming event. For the teams, Borja said they can attend the weekly meeting, which is hosted by DFS Galleria every Thursday at 5:30pm for March. Next month, the meeting will move to the CCA office along Middle Road in Gualo Rai.
“Cancer affects us all,” said Borja. “It's up to all of us to do our best to work as a community and fight this disease.”

Former CCA manager
Borja said he and the entire MMAC committee and CCA family express their sympathy to the family of former CCA assistant program manager Naomi Deleon Guerrero Benjamin who passed away early Saturday morning due to a car accident.
He said Benjamin, 21, was an “ideal” supporter of the fight against cancer along with her family, Team Bodig, which has given tremendous contributions to the cause over the years.
“We're very sad to see that she's departed from us. From the entire MMAC Committee, we offer our condolences to her family,” said Borja.
