Saipan Call-a-Ride moves to COTA
Program temporarily suspended

Effective today, March 22, 2013, the Saipan Call-a-Ride program, including its vehicles, will be officially transferred to the Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority, according to a CNMI Council on Developmental Disabilities statement yesterday.

The program provides transportation services for people with disabilities and the elderly.

At this time, the operation of the Saipan Call-a-Ride transportation services-currently under a volunteer driver program agreement-will be suspended so COTA could perform vehicle inspection, maintenance and repair work, if necessary.

The suspension will also allow COTA enough time to plan and re-evaluate the volunteer driver program agreement until such time that the Saipan Fixed-Flex Route and Para-Transit Services goes online by the end of this year.

For more information, call COTA's Operations & Maintenance Section at 664-2276 and ask for Steven Pangelinan, Maintenance & Operations coordinator or email steven.pangelinan@gov.mp for operations matter or COTA's Mobility & Transit Section at 664-2276 and ask for Vince Merfalen, Mobility Management & Transit Coordinator or email vince.merfalen@gov.mp for questions concerning ridership.
