Gov. Eloy S. Inos restored the powers of the regulatory Public Utilities Commission on Friday but extended for another 30 days the state of emergency declaration for the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. so that CUC will be able to continue employing skilled technical foreign workers in the absence of qualified U.S. citizen workers.
PUC, chaired by Joseph C. Guerrero, has been asking for the lifting of suspension of CPUC's regulatory oversight of CUC and other utilities firms in the CNMI.
The Inos administration also seeks volunteers so that a functioning CUC board of directors can be revived.
Details in Monday's paper.
