A drinking session by five persons at a house in Chalan Kanoa on Friday night ended up in a bloody fight when one hit another in the eye with a rock.
Martino Omelau, 35, was arrested for aggravated assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
The alleged victim, Michael Herickson, sustained a two-inch laceration in the upper left eye and was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center.
At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $1,625 cash bail and $14,525 unsecured bond on Omelau.
Police detective Therese S. Kintoki stated in her report that a woman called the Department of Public Safety on Friday at 6:26pm to report a beating incident at a house along Olopai Avenue in Chalan Kanoa.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they saw the injured Herickson who was with his common-law wife and her parents.
An officer saw that all four were very intoxicated. Police were told that the suspect, Omelau, had run away.
Herickson told police that they started drinking at 4pm and consumed more than four cases of beer.
A verbal altercation between Omelau and Herickson escalated after Omelau picked up a big rock and hit Herickson in the left eye.
Herickson said he passed out for a few minutes and regained consciousness to see Omelau on top of him and punching him in the face.
Herickson’s wife and her father pushed Omelau, who then ran away.
A police officer later found Omelau at the Bank of Guam area along Beach Road in Chalan Kanoa and arrested him.
