KFC and Agape downed their respective opponents in the 4th United Basketball Association/Docomo Summer Youth League last Saturday at the Garapan Basketball Court.
In the U15 division KFC defeated Villaroyales, 51-43. Jethro Cruz and Mike Arciaga teamed up in lifting KFC to the 8-point win, as they finished the game with 15 points apiece. Arciaga also plucked down 6 rebounds, as he and Mark Ogasawara kept up with Villaroyales’ frontliners. Ogasawara collared 8 rebounds and had 4 shot blocks to go with his 11 points.
Joining Ogasawara, Cruz, and Arciaga on the KFC roster are Quinn Amog and Dick Feria, who added 7 and 4 points, respectively, and J.P. Cruz, who was scoreless, but earned 4 rebounds.
As for VIllaroyales, Adrian De Luna led his team after scoring 19 points. He also got 5 steals and 2 assists, while D.J. Ong contributed 11 markers and 8 rebounds.
Halftime scores of the KFC-Villaroyales were unavailable, as organizers used only statistics sheets during the game. Three other teams are competing against KFC and Villaroyales for the U15 crown. The list includes Swag Overloader, Rollers B, and Flight Team. The five participating squads play in a double-round robin regular season with only the Top 4 teams advancing to the playoffs. Matches are played every Saturday.
There are also five teams in the U18 division, including Agape, which edged the Thundercats, 64-61.
Winson Yu top-scored for Agape, nailing 15 points, while Josiah Lin and Joe Yang chipped in 13 and 12, respectively. De Luna, who is also playing in the U18 division, led all scorers, tallying 16 markers for the Thundercats.
The Wushin Warriors, Madness, and Sixers are the three other squads entered in the U18 division.
