The Northern Mariana Islands sent a delegation to the 15th Annual Nippon Domannaka Festival on Aug. 23-25, 2013, in Nagoya, Japan.
The NMI delegation of indigenous Carolinian dancers was one of 205 teams that entertained over 1.5-million festivalgoers. Other overseas guest teams hailed from Korea and Taiwan. The group was also joined by 2013 Miss Liberation Queen Nicole Sablan.
“The Nippon Domannaka Festival is an effective and fun way to promote Saipan, Tinian, and Rota to potential visitors in Japan, and we are pleased to support this year’s delegation,” said Marianas Visitors Authority marketing manager Bruce Bateman.
In addition to performing every day, the group joined the festival parade on Aug. 25. To help promote the Northern Marianas to potential visitors, some of the very popular Saipan-da! backpacks were distributed to the crowd. (MVA)
