Following the lead of MARPAC, two more businesses have agreed to sponsor the 2013 United Filipino Organization Basketball League.
According to league coordinator Abner Venus, Tan Holdings (through Tan Siu Lin Foundation) and JET Holdings Co. have agreed to come in as sponsors of the competition.
While MARPAC will be sponsoring the 40-and-over masters division, the TSL Foundation and JET Holdings will be co-sponsors for the open division.
A total of 16 teams have already signified their intention to join the league. Four teams are joining the 40-and-over age group, namely Armatech, Wings Travel, MAFEA, and Tan Holdings.
The open division, meanwhile, has Mobil, Hoopaholics, KB Market, Proa, Star Sands Plaza, and a team that will be coached by veteran tactician Boy Garcia.
The under-21 division so far has the Division of Youth Services Sonics, Rollers, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Proa, while the under-16 age group has the Division of Youth Services, Rollers, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Mobil.
The 2013 United Filipino Organization Basketball League kicks off on Sept. 22 at the TSL Sports Complex’s Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.
Before the actual games start, the opening ceremony will promptly begin at 1pm on that day. Playing dates for the league will be Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, if necessary. First game is at 6:30pm and second game is at 8pm.
The next organizational meeting is set for Tuesday, Sept. 2, 7pm at Don Pedro’s Restaurant beside Gene’s Barber Shop along Middle Road in Garapan.
