All roads lead to the Civic Center in Susupe this Sunday when the 2013 Labor Day celebration returns after a long absence.
Gov. Eloy S. Inos reinstated the celebration in collaboration with the Legislature and Judiciary and it starts promptly at 8am.
Inos himself is expected to grace the occasion as well as Senate President Ralph Torres, House Speaker Joseph Deleon Guerrero, and the presiding and associate judges of the Judiciary.
Aside from fun and active family entertainment activities scheduled for the day and various booths, Parker Yobei, Maggie Naputi, and other bands will provide entertainment.
Inos appointed Manny M. Pangelinan as chairman of the 2013 Labor Day celebration committee and he is joined on the committee by vice chair Bobbie T. Sablan, secretary Lori B. Pinaula, and treasurer Jazmin Lizama. Subcommittee chairs include Frannie T. Salas (entertainment), Linda J. Ayuyu (solicitation), and Joyce Taro (sports).
Pangelinan expressed his deep appreciation to his team at the final planning meeting held last Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Governor’s Office conference room.
He also thanked Inos for his confidence in appointing him to spearhead efforts and hopes this weekend’s celebration is a demonstration and culmination of the efforts by all to set aside Sept. 1 to socialize and strengthen camaraderie, reignite hope, and share contributions with the island community.
“The planning committee salutes and appreciates all the many countless donors from officials, leaders, employees, and private businesses for in-kind and/or monetary contributions. The CNMI Labor Day 2013 would not have been possible without the collective desire and partnership of everyone who call our NMI home,” said Pangelinan.
