PDM Promoters Inc. was at it again last Saturday, picking up trash and sprucing up the Paseo de Marianas during its monthly cleanup.
In fact, PDM Promoters’ Sonia Siwa said the non-profit organization hasn’t skipped a month since beginning its cleanup of the Garapan tourist district a couple of years before.
“We never skipped the monthly cleanup, this is actually the community service of PDM Promoters, Inc,” she said.
Last Saturday’s cleanup started at 9am and finished at 11:30am. In all, 900 lbs of trash was collected, including the usual dried bushes, beer bottles, Styrofoam plates and cups, beer and soft drinks cans, and hundreds of cigarette butts.
The cleanup team was composed of 10 staff from Kinpachi Restaurant and the six Saipan Awaodori Team members who recently arrived from Japan where they performed with the Tokyo Tensuiren Group.
Also taking part was Itheyvin They’s mother, Innocencia Opokunong, and her other children. Siwa said Opokunong has been a regular attendee of the cleanup.
Aside from They, the other Saipan Awaodori Team members who recently arrived from Japan are Liza Lazaro, Zacharias Sakisat, Nyla Sablan, Ronald Fitipol, and Cody Litulumar.
PDM Promoters is a community group also known for its support of the cultural dance group, the Saipan Awaodori Team, as well as keeping the Paseo de Marianas spick and span throughout the year.
The group’s monthly cleanups collect up to 1,000 lbs of trash. Aside from the TSL Foundation, other major sponsors of PDM Promoters are DFS Galleria Saipan and Docomo Pacific.
