Food was bountiful, Budweiser was overflowing, and prizes galore were being given left and right during MARPAC’s 40th Anniversary Banquet last Saturday at Pacific Islands Club’s The Magellan.
MARPAC resident manager Guy Pudney said the banquet was the company’s little way of thanking its loyal customers, business partners, and the local community for 40 years of doing business on the island.
The banquet, which also coincided with the awards ceremony of that morning’s MARPAC 40th Anniversary Golf Tournament, saw more than 400 people in attendance including dignitaries that included Gov. Eloy S. Inos, Sen. Pete Reyes (IR-Saipan), and former lieutenant governor and representative Diego Benevente.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by Parker Yobei.
Pudney said 40 years on Saipan is a real milestone and he looks forward for another 40 years of success on the island.
Other MARPAC and Shimbros International, Inc. officials present were Jojo Camacho and Melvin Tenorio, now assigned in Guam and Palau, respectively.
In the raffle, John Cepeda of Dandan won the runner-up grand prize, which was a 42” Vizio flatscreen TV donated by Matson Shipping. Steve Sablan, however, went home with the biggest smile as his ticket No. 346 won him the grand prize made up roundtrip tickets for two to Japan, courtesy of Delta Airlines.
The MARPAC 40th Anniversary Banquet is the latest of a long line of events the company has organized to celebrate the milestone. In the past couple of months, MARPAC brought in Hawaiian island reggae legend Baba B and comics Ron Josol, Mel Cabang, and Kaleo Pilanca.
MARPAC’s 40th anniversary celebration isn’t over. Pudney said the company’s “40 Days of Giveaways” is still on and is open for residents 21 years old and over. Any purchase of a 12-pack or bucket of Bud or Bud Light gets one a chance to win daily prize and cash giveaways for 40 days like Bud gears, hotel stays, roundtrip tickets to Guam or Manila, $4,000 cash grand prize, and many more.
