The CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management issued a high surf advisory yesterday that will remain in effect until 6am on Friday.
It said a monsoon surge west of the Marianas is creating a west swell that will produce hazardous surf along west-facing reefs the next couple of days.
“Surf will be hazardous at 7 to 9 feet along west-facing reefs through at least Thursday night,” the agency said.
It advises the general public and inexperienced mariners to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches, especially those along west-facing reefs as rip currents are life threatening. (PR)
