The CNMI Homeland Security Emergency Management issued yesterday a high surf advisory that will be in effect until 6pm on Monday.
According to the advisory, fresh to near gale west winds that are feeding into a developing circulation centered just east of the Marianas will create hazardous surf of 9 to 11 feet on west-facing reefs of the Marianas until at least Monday. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet are expected to continue along west-facing reefs through at least Saturday night.
The general public and inexperienced mariners are advised to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches, especially those along west-facing reefs as rip currents are life threatening. (PR)
