The CNMI Homeland Security Emergency Management issued a high surf and small craft advisory yesterday, saying that hazardous surf of 9 to 11 feet on west facing reefs and 8 to 10 feet on north facing reefs will persist through Wednesday.
The high surf advisory remains in effect until 6pm Wednesday, while the small craft advisory remains in effect until Tuesday afternoon.
Combined seas of 7 to 10 feet and southwest winds around 20 knots with higher gusts in showers will produce hazardous conditions for operators of small craft.
The CNMI Homeland Security Emergency Management is strongly advising the general public and inexperienced mariners to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches, especially those along west and north facing reefs as rip currents are life threatening. (PR)
